Nowadays, philosophy is not as important as before, but it is good to know to philosophize, because when we think in a philosophical way, we analyze things based on our thinking, reasoning, and life experiences, not based on others experiences and solutions like other sciences. We cannot always agree without thinking, because the reality is that we are different from the other species of animals because we think and reason. I think that we should combine philosophy and science when analyzing something because there are two ways to question and analyze things, with our own critical thinking, and with proved knowledge that is given to us by science.
Philosophy wants us to learn to question things, even if there is no answer possible yet, and for us to be able to make these questions we need to use our critical thinking, and also use our reasoning to analyze all the answers we can get from others. An easy example that I think science and philosophy can combine to analyze a whole from different points of view is an iPod where we mostly listen to music; science will try to know how it is made, how it works, etc while philosophy will focus on the reality of life and people, and will make questions like “why people use iPods” “why they like to listen to music”, etc. This was just a very easy example, but there will be always much complex ones that can combine philosophy with all sciences.

I really like this blog because it has really interest facts about philosophy. I want to say that Anthony really understanded the intention of philosophical studies. In the other hand i will say that for this time the example of the ipod is not the appropiate for this case. I will say that the ones that will ask themselves Why do they listen and why people use ipod will be maybe antropologists and not philosophers that much. I think philosophers will study more unanswered questions about world and life.

Good work Anthony. I agree with you in the part that science and philosophy are related in some way. We need the information that science gives us and then philosophize and think deeply into the information to give it a true life meaning. Also I agree that both answer questions, but they answer them in a different way. As the book quotes, “science offers solutions, philosophy offers answers”. Good job Anthony.
ResponderEliminarYou are correct, philosophy is a great subject that can be related to other things. Philosophy can is a theme were you have to ask a lot of questions to yourself. Questions of life is a great book that will have you asking this type of questions. It is a great blog entry that explains all the details of philosophy.
ResponderEliminarAnthony! I really like your blog. You are totally correct, now these days people don't pay too much attention to philosphy as before. We need to create that culture so people finf philosphy interesting and inovating. Philosophy helps you create questions that are very interesting and no one knows the answer..The philosophers have a very wide knowledge.. Keep doing excellent blogs!!!
ResponderEliminarIt is sad but true that nowadays philosophy is not as important as it was before, today everyone settles with the answers given by science instead of trying to experience and understand by themselves, no one really tries to question things anymore. I think you made a very good argument when you said we should combine science and philosophy; because the world we live in depends on science, it has become a need to everyone of us, and we can’t just put it aside, we need to find that middle point where science and philosophy can become one again.
