Why philosophy?
At first, philosophy seemed to me to have no use at all, I thought it was some kind of hobby, whim, I didn't know how could it help me in my life or in anything I wanted to do so I began to read the introduction to philosophy from Fernando Savater's book. Now my visioning is growing and I am able to see more, for example, how many times we are satisfied with the solutions people give us? Or how many times you don't question what is told to each one of us. When I was younger i used to question things, words, and also why they existed, etc, and my teachers and family sometimes got mad with me so I stopped asking them those kind of questions, now I can suppose why their reaction had occurred; maybe they didn't know either. Well now I can start questioning truths and ideas people use everyday, as I'm becoming aware of what I use, see, think, feel or imagine. I agree with the author where he says that scientists can use information from other scientists while philosophers philosophize by their own, remarking that a philosopher can't transmit the knowledge, because is not like an argument or data or something like that but a point of view, a way of seeing life.

philosophy help us grow into a bigger person. It is easy because you make your own answers and anyone can tell you if there are right or wrong, but it is also hard when you start talking with another person discussing and you run out of words and reason. i do think it is good for everyone to sometimes question themselves.
ResponderEliminarWhen I was a kid, I used to make that type of questions, and everybody used to tell me that we were created by God and when we die we go to heaven if you were a good person and bla bla, but now I am studying philosophy, I have found many reasons why I should learn to philosophize, for finding my own answers of life.
ResponderEliminarThis introduction told us everything about philosophy. All the questions that have to be asked to make philosphy a great and interesting theme. People ask this questions all the time, i take myself for an example. I used to ask these questions all the time, where do we come from, how were we made and more questions.
ResponderEliminarQuestioning is so important – and it’s sad but true that many adults stop children from asking certain questions (questions that make people uncomfortable) when they are really brilliant. I think it was Einstein who said something about children asking the best questions, but he definitely said: “To raise new questions, new possibilities, to regard old problems from a new angle, requires creative imagination and marks real advance in science.” You might argue that without philosophical questioning science would be impossible.
