As we read in chapter 10, time is difficult to define, and even though it is an important factor in our everyday life, I think almost everyone would like to have control of this symbolic, but independent measurement.
When I establish a conversation about time, many people usually say: “ It flows like water”, which means that it leaves your hands with ease, making you want more and more. But, have you ever thought about why was time invented?
Savater tried to explain that time was established, so that humans could have a point of reference, to meet, and/or make different activities in a day, which really makes sense. It also explains that it is just a measurement, for knowing in which stage of the day we are at.
Time is independent from anything, which means that it is in constant movement, and he tries to explain that living and non-living things depend on it, for suffering transformations, such as age transformations.
Savater also showed Hegel’s opinion about showing a specific moment in time, such as “now”. When we call something “this”, it is subjective if we do not see it, but if we show “this” (ex. a lamp), it is not subjective anymore. But, when we say “now”, it will always be subjective, because the moment we just called “now” is gone, and I cannot pick it up again.
Time will always be a part of our daily life, but we know that it will be always impossible to hold it, that’s why we need to take advantage of it, before it is to late.
nestor i also think that time flows naturally and that it would be very difficult to stop it but i dont think it is impossible and i also think time is not so independent as you think it is, i think the other way, you say that it is independent from movement but i think it is very dependent from it.
ResponderEliminarI agree with you Nestor, I think Savater is correct when he says why time was invented. I think that without this measurement (time) the world would be chaotic because everybody would have their own way of life which probably would led us into many problems. As you say at the end: "Time will always be part of our daily life"
ResponderEliminarHi nestor! I liked your post because you mentioned that time is independent from anything but I think we humans began using time depending on some factors like the seasons, the time of the year it rains, etc.
ResponderEliminarAlso.. I like your post because you mentioned hengel's opinion, which at the begging I realize that something so simple is so true, and of course I get to appreciate more the moment.
I like that you say that time is independent. Its is very interesting to see how we can make an object stop in any of the 3 other dimensions( x-y-z coordinates) but cant stop time affecting the object. Time doesnt depend on anything, on the contrary. everything is dependent on time (if time stopped, everything would be static)
ResponderEliminarThis is a great point considering that in class we were discussing about which was related to which, and I think everything is related to time, because time affects everything such as weather, us growing up, and we can not stop time from doing this to us or to anyone else.
ResponderEliminarHey Nestor of course time is a very important thing in our lifes and as you have said I do think everyone would love to have something to control time. right now I would love to have something like that beacuse it is very late and I still have to study for math. I agree with you that time is impossible to hold so we must enjoy ever day of our life before it is to late.
ResponderEliminarReally Nestor I agree with you at the beginning of the blog where you say that people compare time as the flow of water on the river. It is impossible to stop the time and the time that you have use it will never come back. Another thing that I like about you blog was were it say that Savater try to explain us for what was time created and yes it also make sense to me
