Your order could be my chaos
During this week we talked about chapter 5, and I found many interesting issues, that we can argue about. One of them was the one about order, which is a theme very subjective, but as Savater said: “Your order could be my chaos”. That means that the majority of the people are used to have certain type of order with their things, that for many others, it could be chaotic.
In my life, for example, I always have problems with my brother because of my house organization. He always leaves the things wherever he finishes using them. Like the wireless phone, he always leaves it in the sofa, or in the bed, and when I am looking for it, I never find it. That’s the reason I always return the phone to the base, so I can find it easily.
Another interesting issue we talked about in class was the one about the finite or infinite Universe. When you ask people what they think about it, they just simply answer according to their religion, culture, or maybe by guessing. But, when I reasoned it, I came to the conclusion that the Universe is infinite and continuous expansion, because if it wasn’t, there would be something else outside it, and I could have reached the end.
When it comes to questions that are hard to answer like the existence of the universe in you last paragraph I believe people can feel uncomfortable because that is related to our existence in general and I believe we don't want to discover anything that threats our actal beliefs of affects us too much.
ResponderEliminarI agree with your post Nestor. I have the same problems about you in related to order. In my house for example I always argue with my mom in relation of how my room is organized, same goes with my car, every time my father get’s in, he starts to move things and criticize if something is wrong. So that’s why my order can be sometimes others chaos.
ResponderEliminarNestor I like how you choose to talk about chaos and order, I agree with Savater when he says that "my order can be somebody else's chaos".
ResponderEliminarAs you explained about the wireless phone I believe everyone has an example of how somebody didn't coincide with their idea of order. Savater in addition gives us other two concepts of order, in which the one I agree the most is when he says that order is trying to find unity, so maybe if we take this concept of order, people could understand better why we have different ideas of order; it depends on the relationship we are looking to establish.
Great post Nestor, I definetely agree with you, although I think that even if it's true that someone's order can be another man's chaos, there are limits. You're brother couldn't call his arrangement of objects an "order" beacuase it has no pattern; I don't think leaving stuff around everywhere qualifies as order.
ResponderEliminarWhat I didn’t understand is if the universe is infinite, as you say, how can it continue to expand, I mean if it really is infinite there would be no room for expansion, because it would mean that there is something outside the universe that lets it expand beyond its limits, which I know is absolutely confusing.
ResponderEliminarI have had the same problems with my sister that you have had with your brother, she thinks she has order, but actually that is chaos for me, I can not find the remote anywhere. So Savater was right, even though you think you have order in your live it can be disastrous for me.
ResponderEliminarGreat blog Nestor, I think you write a very interesting blog, the first quote you wrote about Savater “Your order could be my chaos” is very interesting. I also have the same probelms in my house, there is always a chaos becasue everyone wants to have authority and make orders but each of us have our own way of organizing things, this is the best blog I have read so far.
ResponderEliminarI have the exact same problem with my sister; when she is looking for what to wear, she tries on something and if she doesn't like it she just put it anywhere in the room. I hate that because I can't live with my room that way. There's always a chaos for me and an order for her in our room.
ResponderEliminarNestor , first I agree with you on the house problem I have the same problem with the phone, also with the tv control remote. But with the thing that I disagree is wit the one of the universe yes it is so big, but what if is so big and it is also a circle, it so big that you will not now is you have pass trough that point al ready, but you are just going in circle
